Hi,
I was hoping if somebody can clarify this:
On inquiring from my Case Officer regarding the status of my application and the processes that are taking place with my application, he replied:
"We are seeking to finalise your application as soon as possible. You
will appreciate, however, that all non-citizens applying for visas to
enter Australia are considered on their individual merits and against
legal requirements set out in Australia’s migration legislation. This
often includes requirements for mandatory health, character and national
security or other checks that are undertaken by other agencies and can
take some time."
In the last sentence, what character, national security or other checks is the CO referring to and what agencies perform those checks? Perhaps everybody else be going through similar checks which is causing delay
Also I thought the PCCs I submitted should have satisfied them, I dont know what character and security checks they are conducting

My meds have been finalised for over a month now and some documents which I re-uploaded almost 2 months ago are still required 
My updated timeline is below......and HOPING!!!!

ACS: August 2009 (took around 7 weeks)
IELTS: Nov-09 (7.5)
VISA TYPE: 175 Skilled Independent applied on 23-JAN-2010
CO: allocated on 25-FEB-2010
PCC: Requested on 25-FEB-2010. Uploaded on 04-MAR-2010. Still set as REQUIRED!
MEDS: Requested on 25-FEB-2010. FINALIZED on 24-MAR-2010
VISA GRANTED: NO>>>STILL WAITING!

I think applicants from Pakistan are getting extra scrutiny. Any opinions? Becoz most of my Pakistani folks seem to be stuck after Meds been finalized and everything else been submitted.
