With regards to agents contacting DIMIA.............well isn't that the same as you or I contacting them??
Finally, you mentioned at the end of your message that, "give them this week as a testing period shall we"..............have'nt you being saying this or something sinmilar for a number of weeks now??

Remember I am also in the same boat. In one of my previous messages sometime ago I mentioned that we should wait till mid september I based that on the information that DIMIA has recruited some additional staff to handle the applications. This was the reply from DIMIA to one of applicants query.
I want to keep myself positive that's all we can at this moment.
Regarding the agents contacting its different when compared to applicants. Generally DIMIA tends to ignore the general query about the status of the applications.
When agents request I hope they contact the regional heads to make a statement not just asking them what happened to my application ?
If any one has a better idea its always welcome

The only reason we sent the email and not getting an agent to send it, is I firmly believe that we are more than capable of communicating via email and also refuse to pay an agent for something we can do ourselves ie fill out forms etc!!!
Had DIMIA made it clear that this new process would affect pre july applications then I could accept that, but I have not found any information to support this from either DIMIA or any minister?!
Agents must be aware of the situation ie pre/post july applications, and therefore as you put it must have made a statement (as you put it) to DIMIA. Therefore, why has no one had any feedback on the situation???

Re: processing of pre july
I agree - send it (I have signed already)
I think that we have been patiently waiting since the news that extra staff where going to be put to processing the pre-july applicants. And yet here we are, mid September and no real movement
What I find fustrating is the lack of any information. Afterall, it would not hurt, or take time for DIMIA to put an announcement on its website, even if it was bad news like 'all pre-july applicants are on hold for an estimated 12 onths until the new software is tested' or something like that.
I take the point that someone made that the DIMIA is not here for our convenience. But at the end of the day, we are also paying customers. We pay for our application, send it in, we accept that it will take a long time to be processed, we accept that we cannot check online the progress of our application, we accept that we cannot contact our case officer. But for us to sit here, and watch people jump the queue(not blaming the post-july applicants - skip the queue if you can!) and not even be given the courtesy of some form of announcement is just taking the &#@ (as we say in my home country)
aghhh, I feel MUCH better now )

Hi Everyone
Just a thought; DIMIA are just doing what they're told to do and I agree that this situation is absolutely crazy.
They don't want contact from anyone SO..... why don't we send the email to Amanda Vanstone, the Minister responsible, and get her response?
You can add my name to that one!
Keep smiling ;-]

Re: processing of pre july
Prince1975,
You asked exactly on time .
Today, after the second time I addressed them, I got this:
(I will publish this as a separate topic.)
Dear Pre July Applicants
This is a message from the Director, Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre,
in response to your email query:
"In an effort to reduce overall processing times of skilled migration
applications, the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre (ASPC) has
implemented new processing procedures from 1 July 2004. These rocedures
involve a more streamlined handling of all applications lodged from 1
July whereby they are registered, acknowledged and initial assessment
commenced within 7 working days. It is anticipated that it will take
approximately 2 more months before this new standard is being met. The
success of this relies on applicants lodging fully completed
applications. To assist with this, the ASPC has developed a full set of
checklists, which will be posted on the DIMIA website by the end of
September. All prospective applicants are encouraged to download the
relevant checklist, complete and attach it to the front of the
application before forwarding to Adelaide for processing.
With regard to the pre July applications, there was an interruption in
new assessments in July due to a number of factors but processing has
returned to normal. With regard to the UK and Europe skilled migration
caseload specifically, I am able to provide the following status
information on the pre July applications:
- All Skilled-Designated Area Sponsored (subclass 139) applications and
those on the Migration Occupations in Demand list (MODL) in effect before
8 September will have been assessed by the end of September;
- All applications with occupations that were added to the MODL on 8
September will be assessed by the end of October.
Anyone in the above two groups who has not received a letter by the
middle of November should alert the ASPC Region 3 mailbox - the address
is [email protected] If applicants are not sure if their
occupation is on MODL this can be checked on the DIMIA website at the
following address: www.immi.gov.au/migration/skilled/modl.htm
Assessments are continuing on the other pre July non-priority
applications in date of application order and additional resources have
been allocated to assist with this. It is expected that the majority of
these applications will be finalised within the standard processing times
of 12 months. The finalisation time for each application varies
dependant on individual circumstances."
