Default Initial entry - do they take away the "tab" on the visa?

The tab I was refering to is the upper portion of the visa which was
not stuck to the passport and contain some numbers. Do the immi
officer take off that part during initial entry?

Thanks.

Sometimes they do, other times they leave it. It makes no difference
to the validity of the visa.

The tab used to be a little tool for customs officers who had to record your entry into Australia and your visa number. They just took it off to keep with passenger card etc and it saved them writing all your details down. As mentioned by previous message in this discussion, it really does not matter. So if it has fallen off it will make no diff.

It's a small white tab on the top of your visa that has your visa number on it. The tab detaches off the visa (see above msg's for reason) and is not stuck to your passport.

If you don't have one it's NOT a problem (unless someone tells me other wise).

I've had 3 visa's now and only had the tab on my first one (and I've had 2 different visa classes). And it was only taken off when I went to get my next visa. The immigration officer who placed the second visa in my passport, just ripped the tab off and put it in the bin. She didn't even do anything with it.

Hi

I was confused too.. but all they did was stamp on the opp page of the
sticker. Nothing was torn off.. When i asked abt it they said that it
was done earlier not anymore.. Now its just the stamp of arrival.

Cheers
