Increased points requirement for skilled visas
The points required to be eligible for a skilled visa are increasing to 65 points from 60 for visa invitations that are issued from the 1st of July, 2018.Applications lodged in respect of invitations that were issued before this date will remain subject to the current requirement of 60 points.The subclasses of visa to which this requirement applies are:

Could the make up of the points be changing, for example, 15 and 20 points on english, even introducing an additional 5 points for something that isn't currently there or is it basically everything points wise remains the same and they are just makkng it more difficult to gain pr?

Yes,
For the GSM category visas including Skilled Independent Visa 189, Skilled Nominated Visa 190 and Skilled regional visa 489 the points are increased from 60 to 65 points w.e.f 1st July 2018. Therefore you need to score 65 points as per your skills including age, work experience, English language proficiency, qualification and other factors. Also the higher the immigration score better will be the chances to get nomination from Australian immigration authority. |
