Angry IELTS PROBLEM

Dear People,

I would like your advice on this:

I have just received my IELTS score an my score is:

Listening: 7.0
Reading: 5.5
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 8.0
Overall: 7.0
I am sick of this IELTS thing because this was the second time I took the
test but didnt get "6.0" in "ALL FOUR COMPONENTS" I am thinking about
shooting my application right away because its been laying pending since
last three months just because of this IELTS problem
Please suggest, I think any sensible person will understand and except this result.

Thanks in advance,
hk_1

The only advice I can give is to do lots of reading.
I assume from your post that English is not your first language.

They have to have a cut off point somewhere, if they just let people through because they got close there would be no point in having the test in the first place.

Don't give up, you are not far off.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what anyone else suggests. If you have to gain a 6 score in all four components then that's the rule and you have to meet the criteria as stated. It might not seem fair or sensible, but that's how it is unfortunately.

You're not far off and you've got some great scores - good luck.

And score a 6 in all components is what you must do.

Good luck!

Hi hk_1

If you want to score 6 in the reading module, you need to answer at least 30 questions correctly. In the academic IELTS, band 6 in reading module equates to answering 23 questions correctly. If I were you, I will take the academic IELTS. The listening and writing modules are the same as the general training's. I found the reading module in the general training module silly and tricky. The reading module in the academic IELTS was easier and straighforward. This was my experience with IELTS. Have a look at samples tests of the academic IELTS and decide for yourself.

Cheers

You have a valid point there, I will consider it infact I will do it, thanks man
one more thing I need to tell all you guys, I wrote T for True, F for False
and NG for Not Given I think this is the reason of 5.5 in Reading, what is
your take on this?
