Default IEAUST - CDR Structural Engineering?

Hello all.....

I have had a negative assessment from the engineering council UK on my HNC under the Sydney Accord, so, CDR here we come.

I have been reading up a little on the CDR process and I am a little lost.

Do you apply for a CDR under a specific engineering title, or as a general engineer?

I have an HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering from 1996., but my work experience is in the structural field.

Does that mean I cannot apply, as there are no requirements for structural engineers on the occupations list.

Or, do I fill out a CDR based on my 'engineering' experience regardless of field?

Or, do I need to fill out a CDR based on my HNC and try and manipulate my work experience to fulfil a mechanical bias?

I would greatly appreciate any advice, or better still, some reference copies of peoples CDR's at technologist / associate level. CDR's from someone with a structural engineering background would be fantastic.

Thanks,

Tony.

As far as I know, you have to make CDR for your nominated occupation for which you have evidence of level of qualification for the appropriate engineering level. For ex, for Prof Eng you have to have Uni BSc (not BA)level education, 4 years. That is clearly explained in the IEAUST QA Guide here http://www.ieaust.org.au/find/osqa/r...essmentKit.pdf

Mechanical Engineering is wide enough to put "structural" in it. I am not sure about any manipulation with your work experience or other things. That could be a wrong approach.

On this forum you can find links for some templates of CDRs and you can ask for more details if you want. That CDR is not "easy to do", so count with 2 or 3 iterations and a few weeks at least.

Thanks for that.

I think the civil engineering occupation description covers elements of structral engineering.

I have e-mailed IEAUS for clarification but heard nothing back.

I think I will produce a CDR based on three of my structural enigineering episodes and apply stating for field of engineering as " Civil, ( structural ). "

Then, keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers....

Just be very careful if you are applying as 2126-11 (regarding your education) and want to be recognised as 2124-11 (regarding your experience). I do not know, but there could be a collision.

In 1121i I did not find any "structural engineering" profession.

And do not worry, IEAust will answer, no more than one week later. My experience in communication with them is quite positive.
