I have not done military service but I will
dear friends,
in my home country, military service is compulsory. I am about to apply for skill independant immigration. I haven't done my military service but I will have to starting from August 2004. it will last about 6 months.
my question is: if I write in the form 47SK that I have not served in a military force (that is the truth for now!) and if I am given PR Visa before I complete my military service, will it cause any problem?
what is the period given for immigrants to enter Australia after they are given PR?
THANKS!

arf,
i would put in the 47sk that i've not served - current status.
after beginning the service, technically there is no need to send
a change in circumstances because there is no question in the form
asking if you *are* serving - just if you *did* serve.
*anyway*, i would send a ch. in circ., it's a good idea to keep them
up to date.

the only problem i can think of is if your first entry date is before
your date of discharge. i don't think (at least here this is the case)
you can leave the country while in the military (except _with_ the
military ;-))

usually it's 6 or 12 months after your medicals or pcc - whichever comes
first. but since med&pcc requests come no sooner than a few months - you
should be on the safe side.

it's always a good idea to avoid deception since it comes back to
haunt you most of the times...
