Hi Friends,
One year before i applied to ACS and got a confirmation from them that my degree is compatible with their Master degree and major in computers but as i was nt able to get MODL and 3 year exp i didnt apply that time.
I want to apply again as now hav 10 points for exp and 5 for my wife (she is a CA-chartered accountant) but my ACS letter has expired as one yr is over.
If i apply again with photo copy of prev letter from ACS will it Expedite the process. Can i claim 5 points for my wife qualification ?
Normally how much time it takes for the complete process in getting PR. (I knw abt ACS times , normally 1 month)
Regards
Dinesh

I could be wrong but I would imagine you would have to submit all the paperwork again - you would also have to get up to date documentation covering your work experience since the last assessment.
In order to claim points for your wife her skills would have to be assessed
PR times vary for some it has taken 8 months others 2 years

Hi,
I had a new ACS assessment made, after failing (inadequate work experience)
a year earlier. ACS told me to only send in my new papers (plus a full
application form) and a reference to my old assessment for all other papers.
However, the processing time is not quicker, it still took the normal time.
So if you have no other changes to your qualifications than more work
experience, you'd just need to send in confirmation of having worked the new
time you claim. Maybe also certified ID documents so they know that it's you
applying (I can't remember if I did this or not).

Well yes - if your having her skills assessed to get the points you would have to submit all the necessary paperwork proving her work experience, qualifications etc as for the fees Im not sure ours under TRA standard fee is AUS$395 if you go to www.immi.gov.au they should have links to ACS to enable you to find out this information. Again re IELTS immig site should have links to that also as Im not sure of this. Before you submit your visa application and waste your fee make sure that you pass the IELTS as otherwise your application will be unsuccessful as Im not sure if your current IELTS results are if you got any have expired or not. As your wife is not the main applicant, if her IELTS score is not to the required standard you will have to pay an additional fee to ensure she gains proficiency.

Bad news - a year ago, (prior to Oct 2002) anyone who has a qualification comparable to (or better than) an Australian bachelor's degree with an IT major need not show any experience to get a positive assessment.
Now (after Oct 2002), the same person would need at least 4 years of professional IT experience.

If you supply a certified copy of the previous assessment letter, it certainly won't slow your new application down.
> Can i claim 5 points for my wife qualification ?
Only if she passes her own skills assessment, as well as the basic requirements.

50+ weeks for skilled independent.

You should be looking at 8-10 weeks for ACS.

If you want 5 points for spouse skills, your wife will need her skills assessed, but not by the ACS. As she is an accountant, she would need to get her skills assessed by the skills assessment body for accountants (ICAA, CPAA I think, check form 1121i).
