How many times can you take the IELTS test

Hi All,
I am not good with Standardized test.
So the question is how many times can you take the IELTS test till you
get the desired 6 points in all sections ?
And does the frequency of taking this test affect the CO's decision ?

Please advice.
Thank you

hi!

I don't think there is a limitation on times as long as you have the funds to pay for repeated exams ;) Usually if you take it a couple of times you get the hang of it. IELTS is mostly about knowing how to handle the paper/time management etc.
It would be easier to get good band score if you get a Practice Kit for IELTS thru British council (or any book shop) before taking the test. It's not worth repeating as a single application costs close to $200.

Now you can repeat the test every month as they have lifted the 3 month waiting regulation!
Good luck!

I heard they've lifted the 3 month waiting time before a person is allowed to take the next test as well.

:)

But it's too expensive for multiple tests, so try to score well on your first attempt! Just be careful, listen carefully and don't mix up your words.

Rgds,

Rgds,

The 3-month limit for re-taking IELTS has been removed recently. However, there may be a practical limitation on how quickly one can re-take as the queue/waiting list for an IELTS test place may be rather long in some places.

hi
my husband took the test 3 times, but could have gone on as many times
till he got the required 5s on every section. be advisedmif nyou dont
get the required scores dont send the results to DIMIA as they will
refuse your visa!!!
Why do you need 6 on every section? I was under the impression it was 5
on each section. I hope i am not wrong.

It depends on how many points you're after, and/or the visa subclass you're applying for.
