Can anyone please tell me how long we can expect to wait after we sent Australia House the medical/police certificates? We're applying for a defacto spouse visa for my boyfriend, and sent the medical/police certificates off 4 weeks ago. We had kind of hoped to hear from them by now, especially after they replied so quickly to the original application form- less that two weeks after we sent it off we'd had notification from AHC requesting the medical, etc.

I know the visa can take 6 months, but we've heard so many great stories about visa's being processed in a few weeks- its got my hopes up!! We plan to go as soon as possible- probably around 2 months after Mark gets the visa, and we're itching to start organising everything. I know we have to be patient, but for me this is going home and I can't wait!!

Is it a spouse visa? I think 8-10 weeks seems normal judging by other posts.
