Cool How long is the immigration process?

I'm 25 and a bricklayer from south Wales,uk. I'm desperate too start a new life in australia, I spent a year there a few years ago and fell in love with the place but due too recession I havnt been able too forward my dream and get back out there. I've passed the points test as I can emigrate on a skilled idependant visa. I'm just wondering how long this process takes because I'd love too go asap. Is there anyway of going there on a different visa and being inbthe country while my application is being felt with?

Any help will be much appreciated

thanks

I must admit I don't get the whole "I've decided to emmigrate and want to go tomorrow" mentality but there are plenty that think this way.

Anyway, you could apply and then go on a WHV if you are under 30 and have not used it before. Otherwise employer sponsored would be an option if you could find a sponsor but that is uncommon for tradies. Otherwise there is probably not much else you can do but wait, there isn't a visa for people who don't want to wait for another visa.

If you do decide to do anything like WHV or even just an extended holiday, I would recommend you get the skilled app in first. It would be too easy to shoot yourself in the foot by becoming ineligible by not working.

Dear there is no definite time ! Self submitted application in Jan 2008 - all requirements are MET since 15/07/2009 except "Personal particulars for character assessment" which is in progress since 24/11/2009.

I have sent 2-3 queries to CO since Jan 2010 but she is not replying any more. Only "automated reply" is received every time i sent mail.

So never trust this process and invest your money as u do in casino gambling.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK !

Bye
Peace

Thanks Bermuda but as I said in my post that I've spent a year in aus and loved it, and I know that I want too live there and will do anything to get out there again. Guess I'll start my immigration forms and just stick out the waiting process
thanx

My application has been in now 22 months and no sign of even a case officer, be prepared for a long wait.
Also get all your trade assessments done asap as mine took nearly 5 months to complete before I could apply.
Have a look at getting state sponsored when the new lists come out, more realistic than getting employer sponsored, which may speed things up.
Good luck
