lot of people talking about holidays in australia i wanted to know for how many days ASPC will be closed during holidays. somebody said about 1 month is it true.

this list shows only few holidays in december then why people are saying that DIMIA offices will be closed for month

Probably becuase people are guessing and like trying to work things out, whilst confusing everyone else!!

Take a chill pill, I'm sure they cant possibly close for a month.

Can't speak specifically for DIMIA, but generally government offices are closing on Christmas Eve (Friday 24th), and will start work again on Jan 4th.

but a lot of public offices are closed for the whole week between Christmas and New Year.

Hi guys i work for a government department myself christmas is just a slow period although we have literally no staff its pretty much between 24th and the 4th we do have some staff working and as far as dima health and all that there will have lot more staff on board even if they slow down they will catch up after coming back so rest assured that its not as bad as they talk about public holidays and noooooooo we dont close for a month

Nooo we don't thank goodness! I need my leave for something more useful than taking just because the govt wants me too! A whole week off is scary over Christmas as I've never had that in the UK.

Well if thats the attitude you take, we won't bother posting! There are at least two of us on this thread who know from first hand experience what Govt depts do at Christmas. How much more concrete do you want without emailing DIMIA themselves? You just can't help some people can you!

Government offices in Australia do not 'close for a month.'

Of course if you want to believe wild rumours then go right ahead, there's not much point in asking questions on a forum if you're not prepared to pay any attention to the answers.
