Just wondering as we cant be that far away now,do they have this time as we do summer holidays or as we have x-mas holidays? do they shut and all get pissed up, or do they just slow down a bit???

Our application was recvd 16.12.05 and our agent got an e mail confirmation on the 21.12.05. The money was then taken after initial processing on the 6.1.06.

So in our experience it would seem that it isn't a huge long period of shut down, I would also imagine that there are staff on apart from the key days.

Many government offices here close between Christmas and New Year - so this year, there is likely to be a shut down between 22nd December and 2nd January. DIMA may have a skeleton staff working but a lot of people will be off work. (bad news for those of us with the MIL this side of the world - can't go to work to escape!)
