Default Help urgently needed: 457: Contract ended prematurely

Hi,

Forgive me if this has been discussed on the forum. but I'm verging on an anxiety attack here ...

I'm here on a 457 visa. The project I was brought out for ended giving me two weeks to find more work. I have one week left then the 28 day grace period.

So, my post is about two things:

1) My CV is at a heap of agencies but I think it would be better to get personal contacts. If anyone has any contacts I could get hold of directly I would appreciate it very much. I'm a SAP training consultant so there are jobs available but it would mean relocating from Brisbane to wherever. I've only been in Brisbane just over 2 months and don't have the money to relocate.

2) Any suggestions or comments regarding my situation would be welcomed.

Warm regards,
Lavinia

Hi Lavinia,

You don't have much time, but as a SAP professional one would hope that your occupation is sufficiently in demand to get a job in time and I'd expect a sponsor to assist your relocation from Brisbane if necessary.

However I'd just note that the timeframe for getting a new sponsor isn't necessarily as tight as 28 days although everything depends on the circumstances and if you haven't sought advice from either an agent or the Department within the 28 days it might be difficult later. And make sure you read http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skill...sa_holders.pdf carefully.

Cheers,

Lots of SAP jobs in Brisbane went up on seek this afternoon, you should check them out.

Thanks.

I haven't been on Seek today (been training all day) however, I've been in previously and what you have to consider is that I'm specifically a training consultant and technical writer. I'm not a functional consultant - and that's what most of the jobs are

But I'm going to go look at Seek right now ...

You would expect all of that wouldn't you? However, with the project ending the market is flooded.

I'm sponsored through a management company and they didn't assist me moving to Australia - they're definitely not going to assist me moving within Australia and have told me as much.

So you're saying I must get in touch with the department asap?
