Default Help SIR Visa (SA)...

Dear Group Members

I applied for SIR visa SA, I had positive skill assessment (Applications & Analyst Programmer ASCO 2231-17), recently they have changed criteria for those whose occupation is not in state's skills in demand list, but my occupation is in there skills in demand list.

"Do I still need job a firm offer to qualify for sponsorship for SIR visa SA under above said profession, since I sent them forms without job offer.

Looking forward for quick reply.

Thanks

Tofique

Hi Tofique,

It's very clear on their website that they won't sponsor for either STNI or SIR unless you've a job offer.

When did you apply? Initially, I believe that SIR for SA were coming through within 3-4 weeks, however, now they have slhowed down, presumably because of the amount of applications to be processed.
We applied on 20th August, and are still waiting to hear from them!!!!!

Here is the ref: of there (SA Website) additonal clauses:
------------------------
Order of Processing

-Applicants whose occupations are listed in this State's "Occupations for State Nominations" will be considered under the State/Territory Nominated Independent Scheme option first. (See fact sheet on the Immigration SA website)
-Applicants whose occupations are not on this list will be considered under the SIR criteria.
-Special Note: Sponsorships for IT occupations not included in the "Occupations for State Nominations" list will be considered under the SIR criteria but will be required to provide a job offer from a South Australian employer before Sponsorship is considered.
-------------------------

See the special note: They are stressing job offer for IT occupations not included in "Occupations for State Nominations" , but my occupation is on state's demand list (Applications & Analyst Programmer ASCO 2231-17)

What do u think now ?.

Hi what i think its saying is even if the IT occupation is or isnt on the list then you still need a job offer.

I would personally go with what George has said as he is an agent after all but if your not 100% sure why not send an email to Sa and ask them it wont do any harm then you can put your mind at rest

I think you still need a job offer but what I don't understand if you get a job offer I think you can then go STNI and not SIR.

Hi do you mean apply to SA to get sponsorship ie form 1244 or apply to DIMA
We applied to SA on 2nd July and received our sponsorship form 1244 duly signed on 21st July04. We have sinced applied to the DIMA and they have took the money out for the visa on 16th August as yet we have heard nothing. We were told they would be fast tracked but unsure as to how long it will take. Hopefully not long now.

Hi Tofique,

I must admit that I have interpreted the STNI job offer requirement in the SA skills in demand list as also applying to SIR - you might only need to have a job offer for SIR if outside the specialisations listed in the SA demand list - but the specialisations are quite specific:

Specialisations:

q Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase SQL Server, DB2, SAP, Peoplesoft, Siebel
q Delphi, Delphi, Progress, Powerhouse
q Advanced Web Design, Firewall/Internet Security, Java Security (mainly J2EE) and electronic commerce.
q Lotus Notes, C++
q Data Warehousing.
q VMS, Unix, Solaris, HP_UX
q Radio SDH, WDM, GSM, CDMA, Broadband CDMA, Satellite design, TDMA, VSAT-commerce security, Network Security, Risk Management, CISSP
q GIS
q IDMS, Ada

Cheers,

George Lombard

Check this out:

http://www.immigration.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=251

"NOTE: Nominations for IT professionals will only proceed if there is
a firm job offer from an employer in SA."

Pretty unambiguous, I think.

Leaving aside STNI, a 'visa smart' applicant who *does* find such a sponsoring employer in SA should generally consider the RSMS visa rather than the SIR visa.

RSMS is a lot better than SIR as it's PR (albeit with some conditions obliging you to work for your employer) rather than temporary residence.

Hiya

I got a response from Immigration SA about this... not good news I'm afraid.
I wish I knew this before we spent £2000+ on agent fees, etc.

Dear Steven,

Yes sponsorships for IT occupations will be required to provide a job offer
from a South Australian employer before Sponsorship is considered.

Regards,
