First of all, you need to establish if you have a 40ft container load
or a 20ft.
Have you contacted any moving companies and had quotes? That way, you
would know exactly what size container you need.
You should phone around the various shipping lines and ask for the
price of a container hire plus shipping.
If you are thinking of doing it yourself including boxing of items,
wrapping of furniture, loading the container, you will probably find
you can't get insurance other than for total loss ie: if the container
is ditched at sea in an emergency. PBO - packed by owner - is
generally not covered.
You need to be very aware of what items are prohibited either/and/or
in a container/Australia. You can find this info by doing a few web
searches yourself.
There are more than likely several documents that will need to be
completed both at your end and prior to the shipment arriving in
Australia.

Look up the yellow pages in the phone book or do a web search on line.
Have a look for COSCO - they are one of the cheapest cost wise for
hiring a container and shipping. I have used them twice.
