Help please,
Hi
I hold the Australian PR and intend to land after 2 months. I
understand that I am entitled to MediCare benefits. Does does mean
that I can also use private medical services and get part of the fees
refunded by MediCare?
What about the prices of medications for persons covered by Medicare?
Are subventions or refunds offered or are the prices regulated like
in many European coutries?

Prices are regulated/subsidised. We pay a maximum of $23.70 for any
prescribed PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme) drug; and that's most
medications. There is also a 'Safety Net' which cuts in when you and your
family's drug costs exceed $700 or so per calendar year. You then pay about
$5 each for remaining drugs.
