Help needed, is there really no hope ? :(

Can someone please clarify for me, it seems things have really changed since we got our visa 2 years ago. Some very good friends desperately want to move to Australia, he is a Panelbeater and Vehicle Painter, how do you get the extra points ? he is on the SOL list and under 45, been in the job 20 years and has the paperwork and has British passport so what else does he need to do or is there really no chance, if someone can advise if there is any chance or is it too late for them. Thanks for any help :)

How many points does he have currently?

Skill - 60? 50?
Age? - you said under 45 but not by how much! If he's 40 - then he gets 15
English - can get 25 points if he passes IELTS
Specific Work - he can get 5 or 10

So it looks like he can get a maximum of 110 (assuming no points for partner skills etc.)

Have you/he looked to see if any of the states have panelbeater on their State lists? Then he would only need 100 points plus State Sponsorship

There is a new points test coming out in July - he may be better off on that see http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...oints-fact.pdf.

He may need State Sponsorship or to use his wifes skills for points to make 65 points there too.
