Help needed Electrician and nurse moving to Brisbane hopefully!

Hi guys, we’ve hummed and arrrrrd about whether to move to Canada to be close to husbands friends and family or move to Australia to start a fresh.
My heart lies with Australia plus our skills seem much needed in Australia rather than Canada.

Anyways I have a few questions if anyone would care to answer them please,
• QLD have taken critical care nursing and Electrician off their skills list does that mean we are unable to go to QLD or does it just mean they won’t nominate you as a state? (We have 75 points without state nomination)

• I’ve been nursing for 11 years as a DipHE Adult nurse with a specialism in IV therapy, will this be accepted as a fully registered nurse in Oz? I have SCPHN Health visiting BSc.

• I have a condition called CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) for which I am about to start the spinal cord stimulation trial with the hope of getting a permanent one fitted, will this hinder our chances of moving?

•Last one for now ☺️ Do you need to have your NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical engineering in order to work as an electrician Oz or will 11 years of work be ample for skills assessment?

Thank you in advance

If the jobs are still on the main skills list for a 189 then you don't need state sonsorship and it is irrelevant whether QLd isaccepting them or not. On a 189 you can live anywhere..

You would need to check that out with AHPRA - the Aus registration body

That is the mpst likely stumbling block, and I would recommend speaking to an agent - George Lombard or Peter Bollard are well regarded for medical issues

Electrician is a licensed trade in Australia with a lot of hoops to jump through. Vetassess, Future Skills or Victoria University assess UK electricians with Vetassess being the most widely known, and the assessment has two parts.

First they assess your qualifications and experience, and I think 4 or 5 years can be used to substitute for qualifications. If successful at this stage, there is then a practical and theory assessment.

Successful candidates are issued an OTSR (Overseas Technical Skills Record) that can be used to get a place on gap training and a restricted workers license.

You will need a degree minimum to pass the skills assessment as an RN for Australia. This changed about 4-5 years ago. Prior to that a diploma was acceptable.
You will need to apply with your partner as the main applicant providing he meets the requirements.
