Hi there, can anyone help?

I'm a nurse applying for a skilled independent visa. Got my skills assessed a year ago and for various reasons am only now doing the main application, however...

On the checklist (part J) it says it needs certified copies of all the documents provided to the assessing authority but I sent originals for some things as requested (e.g. transcript of nursing education) and although I kept copies for my own use they are obviously not certified and can't be because I do not have the original to compare them with.

Any ideas or am I up the creek?!

Cant you write and ask for the originals to be returned to you ? ?

Thanks for the reply but I don't think it's that simple as they keep them on file to be sent to the registering authority when I apply for registration.

Does anyone know any different?

Hi Kulu,

You can certainly request the return of originals and most officers would
take note of your request, but it isn't a processing standard in ASPC and
the files don't seem to be reviewed after grant, meaning that we have seen
very little returned. You'll need to grovel a bit :-(

At this stage Adelaide do not seem to be enforcing the demand for
certified copies of this documentation (whatever was sent to the skill
assessing agency) - uncertified copies will probably do for now.

If they wanted to re-check a skill assessment, they could always get the
papers direct from the skill assessing body anyway.

Hi Lou,

Although they ask for certified copies of all docs sent to ANC,
transcipts and verification are sent direct (In our case) from NMC and
so we never saw them.
We asked NMC for a confirmation letter that they had been sent and as
far as I know, that is good enough. You should still have originals of
all other docs and so can get certified copies done.

If I'm wrong someone will correct me I'm sure.

My transcript was sent via me but yes the verification of current registration went direct fron the NMC.
