Help!

hi can anyone help?

We already have our visa's subclass 457 temporary long stay, a 4 year sponsorship with my husbands job. We have just been to see a financial and emmigration speicialist who has said we should aply for a permanent visa to overrule the 457. Would this affect our sponsorhip? Is it better to do this? As it stands at the minute we are waiting for a buyer for our house, soon as it's sold we're of the Wollongong. We thought we had everyting sorted but are now wondering if we've the wrong visa?

There's no problem with putting in a permanent visa application (175 or 176) whilst you are on the 457 visa. You could apply today (assuming you have all the necessary paperwork and a positive skill assessment).

It's really not a problem - and nothing to worry about. You can continue with your plans and just submit the Perm application when you can (after skill assessment) even if you are already in Australia. When it is time for the PR visa to be granted, your Case Officer will request you leave Auatralia for a short holiday to get the visa grant.

It's much more secure than the 457 but takes longer to process - so a few people get a 457 so they can enter Aus quickly and then apply for the PR visa.

Good luck.
