Question HELP!!!! 457 to PR

Hi all,

I am in need of some help and advise of you if possible.

I am currently on a 457 visa which I hold until September 2010, being that I have been here on the visa for the 2 years I looked into applying for my PR. Unfortunately I fell at the first hurdle due to qualifications, I'm an accountant but my current qualifications only get me 40pts for a 50pts SOL/ENSOL category.

My possible options (I think)

I should be able to re-apply for my 457 visa as it's currently held by my recruitment company and not the hospital I'm working for, with this I am unsure if they will still need to vet my qualifications

Try to apply through the points system (I'm still under 30) again unsure as to the qualifications

Is there an automatic progress after completing your 4 years on the visa that opens up a path to PR

Any info greatly appreciated

Martyn

What exactly is meant by the highlighted statement? It does not make sense.

Nothing is automatic.

There seems to have been a previous question asked and answered, without follow-up:

Hi JAJ,

Sorry, hopefully this is a little better

My current visa is based on the SOL/ENSOL (Skilled Occupation List) category of "Business & Information Professional" for which the Gov't say this is equivalent to 50 points on their points system, I hold accountancy qualifications (AAT accounts, UK) but after having these assessed by Skillasses/Vetasses they deem my qualifications as only worth 40 points.

Have you thought of seeking professional assistance to see if there is a 40 point ENS-SOL occupation that you could fit into?
