hi everybody, can anybody enlighten me on this query with regard to acs,pr process!
i am an IT profession of 16 yrs of experience with a non-IT degree.
of the 16 yrs 11 yrs i was employed, 4 yrs self-employed [running my own sw
development works] and now employed again.
though very difficult i can manage to get reference letter for 12 yrs but what do i
do for the 4 yrs of self-employment;
1) how do i prove my experience?
2) under what asco category i shall nominate?
3) what docs are necessary to prove my self-employment?
thanks pazham

Can't comment for Oz but to prove self-employment for NZ you need your last 6 years accounts, letters from Accountants confirming your self-employed status and printout of NI contributions. Hope this is relevant.

Hi Pazham, We were in a similar situation (partner is a programmer and has been
self-employed for the last few years)
The UK High Commission send us a leaflet in which they outlined the information they
suggested as proof of self-employment. It says
Please provide the following information {...}
1) A statutory declaration sworn before a legally qualified person attesting to:
a) The trading name of your business
b) The exact commencement and termination dates of self-employment
c) The classification in which you are employed
d) A full description of your duties and details of any office, workshop, tools and
equipment you use
e) The number of staff you employ and their classifications
2) Your certificate of business registration. If this is not applicable give
reasons why.
3) A letter from your accountant detailing point 1a-e
4) Statements of service from clients (on letterheaded paper) detailing the exact
nature and duration of work performed by you. You are required to lodge a minimum
of three statements.
5) Statements from your material suppliers detailing the exact nature of your
transactions with them and the duration of their trading period with you. You
are required to lodge a minimum of three statements. If you are unable to
provide any of the requested documentation, please submit a letter of
explanation to this office
Some of the above did not apply to us (as a programmer, my partner doesn't really
have any suppliers and we only have one client. I do the accounts, so no external
accountant.... we provided what we could plus lots of other copies (VAT
registration, share certificates etc) and explained why we couldn't provide all of
the items on the list.
It was a long and tedious process (we got about 3 letters and 2 phonecalls asking for
further information) ... but we got the visa in the end (off to Sydney next month!)
Hope this helps! Good luck, Martina
