Granted Spouse
On my way. Applied from Canada Beginning of November 03. Granted Visa Feb
26. And that was with putting the whole thing on hold while I made a trip to
Australia for a month. High Commission in Ottawa was great. Once you get a
case worker to communicate with just keep them in the loop and they are
happy and will give advice.
Now I am waiting on the Canadian passport people so I can get my shiny new
visa put into my shiny renewed passport. This has been the longest wait out
of the whole process.
One thing that helped. I married my Australian wife 12 years ago in
Australia and we have 3 dual citizen children. Not exactly what they
consider a marriage of convenience. I feel sorry for newly weds as they get
the microscope.
Cheers, and good luck to all

On the assumption you have a permanent visa, you can apply for
Australian citizenship yourself after 2 years in Australia. Under
Canada's current law, you keep Canadian citizenship.

Has your wife got Canadian citizenship too?
If not, is she aware of Canada's rules for PRs keeping their resident
status when overseas (she ought to be able to keep her PR for quite a
while as she's accompanying a Canadian)?
