Got my positive ACS letter, however ....

Hi All,

I could do with a bit of advice, I received my letter from the ACS stating:

"Your skills have been assessed to be suitable for migration under 2231-79 of the ASCO code, ...." however it does not mention 2231-79 Computing Prof. spec. in CISSP which is what I applied for.

So my question is, I assume I need this stated to gain MODL points, so what do I do to try and rectify this?

Cheers for your help,

David

The codes are the same, so would presume that it's the correct one. If you are unsure e-mail them just to clarify that it is.

Hi David,

Generally you've got to appeal. If you look at the full MODL statement on the DIMA site it tells you what the ACS assessment should say for you to get MODL points. So in this situation you've got to go back to ACS and normally it's an appeal case (only rarely would ACS reissue an assessment because of their own documentary error).

Ive got a bad news for you I'm afraid
this quote was taken from dimia website at http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/ski...oc/gn_modl.htm

The ACS has advised that assessments provided to successful applicants will state the ASCO Code for Computer Professional nec with the specialisation in brackets -- for example, 2231-79 (SAP). In addition, the assessment will have the following statement: "Based on the provided certified documentation, it is my opinion that the applicant has 12 months experience in (name of specialisation, for example, SAP)".

If you have a skills assessment which only states the ASCO Code for "Computer Professional nec 2231-79", you are not eligible to be awarded MODL points. A new assessment will be required if you wish to claim points for having an occupation on the MODL.

so as along as they wont write it clearly you wont receive MODL points
it looks like an appeal is what you should do now

cheers
