Hi all, got the pre-grant letter yesterday, so it looks like I'm on the way. I'll
stick around for a while because this NG is great fun as well a valuable source of
information. Thanks for all the replies I have had so far. I'm a bit sad now 'cos I
will have to sell my bike. I might have to change my alias to "Africa Twin" or
something like that. Sorry, dodgy biker joke that. Hang in there everyone, I've got
my fingers crossed for you. Milestones like this make all the effort worthwhile.

hey Thunderace, don't give up the sports bikes. I've found some trackdays at Phillip Island and Eastern Creek etc. £45 per day including lunch. A bit different from wet, cold Donington for £150.

CONGRATS, know what you mean about selling the bike. Mine's up for sale too, trying to get a little extra cash. BUT, in big capital letters, I will have another bike out there. By the way is it a Thunder Ace you have by any chance? You can guess what mine is! Look on the bright side, It will be worth it !!! AND Oz does have better riding weather than old Blighty !!! Regards and good luck... Darren & Julie

Nice one Thunderace!!!!...personally I might try and smuggle the 'ol Blackbird into my luggage container if I ever get in, if necessary will leave the girlfriend behind to allow me to have enough space in container :-)

Thanks Helen, I am happy to answer any questions if I can but you ned to be a little
more specific as there are may different paths to a visa. I suggest you have a look
at the Oz Government website http://www.immi.gov.au/ if you have not already done so.
You can download the skilled migration booklet if that is the route you are taking.
If you have any specific questions after that, then fire away. you would be better
off starting a new thread for each question as it will give you a better chance of a
response. Good luck
Thunder Ace.

Thanks for all your messages, I really appreciate your good wishes. Daz, how did
you know I've got a Thunderace? Nice tip about the cheap track days at Philip
Island Gerard2, the only problem is the two or three day ride from Queensland: hang
on, whats the problem??? I hope your girlfriend doesn't read your idea for the
Blackbird MrFlibble. By the way everyone, Blackbird refers to a motorbike and
nothing else! "Biking Heaven" sounds right Bob, but as for keeping the roads
rubberised Col, my usual approach is to keep the roads coated with bits of fairing
and metal. Never Mind eh?
Cheers

Yeah you're right Joanne, I should have posted the timelines.
Nov 2001 - Applied for assessment to ACS. Yeah sorry, another IT applicaiton!
Dec 2001 - Request for new employer reference as original was not signed, Grrr!
Early Jan 2002 - Positive assessment from ACS
22 Jan 2002 - Sent main Application, also sent for police check
03 Feb 2002 - Police check received
Early Feb -Case number received from Adelaide with request for more information
Early March 2002 - Request for medicals and police certs.
22 March 2002 - Medicals undertaken
05 April 2002 - Sent medicals to Adelaide. Doctor advised that x-rays did not need to
be included
21 April 2002 - Request from Adelaide to send X-rays. This drove me mad!
22 April 2002 - Posted x-rays
29 May 2002 - Received pre-grant letter. Latest entry date is 21 Jan 2002.
All told, it took a little over 4 months, with several weeks lost due to requests for
more details. I'm not complaining though, and I feel a touch of guilt getting it so
fast when others have to wait much longer. Keep going you lot, you'll get there.
