Hi,
I asked a few questions on this newsgroup a while back and have lurked
a great deal since then. There are no questions in this post...just
info for anbody else going thru the same thing.
Good news is my wife got her (front end loaded) spouse visa 2 weeks ago
from London AHC (I am australian). Took 3 weeks from the day we posted
the application (royal mail special delivery) to the day we received it
back. My wife has a medical condition which meant the medical was sent
to sydney to be checked, otherwise I think we would have had it back in
a week. We sent the application to london 2 days after we got married
here in the UK, and had piles and piles of evidence. Lucky somebody is
a hoarder I think!
For the wedding certificate extract thingy, when we got married, we
actually signed and got 2 marriage certificate things at the church.
This meant we had 1 for us and 1 to put in the application - was much
less trouble than getting a copy certified on our honeymoon.
For anybody who is interested, she did the medicals a few weeks before
we sent the application. The doctor then sent them direct to london
ahc. On the cover letter and contents list we stated that the medicals
had already been done and sent on to london ahc. Went to the doctor in
the middle of manchester (can't remember name).
Her belongings left today with Seven Seas, they have seemed very good
so far so fingers crossed they arrive! :)
Me getting into the UK was a bit of a confusing job. The visa rules
here have changed recently for getting married here. I ended up
getting a "visit - marriage" visa. It seems you have to have one of
these to get married here now ... except ... possibly - they don't seem
to understand their own rules and laws - if you are getting married in
an *anglican* church in which case don't need one except some people
still say you do.......i decided to be safe rather than sorry.
Cheers everybody,
Ben.
