Now it is my turn to announce the good news.

9 Jan 2001 Lodged NZ PR application (HK office) 23 Feb 2001 Received letter from NZIS
asking for additional document 26 Feb 2001 Sent the requested document 8 Mar 2001 Received
letter from NZIS asking me to apply for the 6 months work visa.

I do not have enough points to meet the passmark so I am given the option to go for the
work visa.

Regards, Natalie

Very good! Congratulations! I am here in NZ on the same scheme (not enough points for PR).
Initially I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find a job as they seem unwilling to employ
migrants here. I have applied to something like 40 positions and was rejwected every
single time. But yesterday (after 9 weeks in NZ) I have managed to find a job! I haven't
got my contract yet but I start next Monday. Hopefully I can send the contract to NZIS
soon and we'll get issued our PR soon after, so my husband can find a job too.

Just to encourage you and potentially others who opt for the work visa. Just keep
applying, one day someone will accept you!

Good Luck and enjoy the beautiful country (when are you coming over?)

Thats good to hear - I've been following your story on your website. Is it really tough
out there? What sort of job did you manage to get? Whats the IT job market like? I hope to
be in a similar position in a few months.

All the best

Kev

That is a good news. Congratulations. I hope I have the same luck as you as well. I am
planning to arrive in May, just in time for the winter.

Cheers Natalie

If you have qualification and experience you can choose where to work. Demand is good. The
company I start working for is specialized in "software solutions and database services"
for market research departments and bureaus.

It can be tough if you keep getting rejection letters but if you persist you will find a
job. It seems employers are not too keen to hire migrants, but because of the brain drain
(young professionsals quitting the country to work in Oz or UK) they'll have to change
their attitude and consider migrants pretty soon!

Good news for us! Hope to see you out there in a few months! I've a lot of experience
(maybe too much) so with luck I should be able to get something. Hope you keep
updating your website - I'd love to hear how you find the new working environment -
what you think about Kiwi life etc

Cheers

Kev
