GOOD NEWS FOR APPLICANTS AT MUMBAI POST
I would like to share a good and happy news with applicants at mumabi
post who lodged applications before Nov 1 , 2001.
But before that here is a query:
Is it common and standard phrase that AHC uses in their letter for
medicals
"Although your application has not yet reached the stage where we
would usually request you to undergo medicals and submit character
clearances, if u wish to expedite processing of your application,it is
open to u to choose to undergo ur medical examination and submit
police clearances now".
This is what stated in the covering letter i received from Mumbai AHC
along with medical forms. Comments on the above are appreciated.
HERE IS MY TIME SCALE (Sorry i have not posted the same on
austimeline)
1.Sent application for qualification asst to CPA AUS (since i am a
chartered accountant) around Aug 25,2001.
2.Received skills asst from CPA AUS on 28 oct 2001.
3.Organised things in a rush to file application at mumbai post (since
the avg processing time at mumbai WAS 8 months)and couriered on 29 oct
01 from chennai.
4.Came to know that application delivered at Mumabi office on 30 Oct
01.
5.Got ack in around 20 days and no expected processing time in ack.
6.Received medial forms on 31.01.2003 with the covering letter saying
as above in quotes.
In addition to the above quote here is the happy news for our friends
applied at mumbai. I reproduce the other statement verbatim.
"
Mumbai processing times
The Mumbai Visa office is currently processing Subclass 136
applications lodged in September and October 2001.We expect that
ASSESSMENT OF THESE APPLICATIONS WILL BE COMPLETED BY END OF FEBRUARY
2003.Initiating health and character clearances now for these
applications will assist the Mumbai Visa office in faster finalisation
of these cases.
Applicants are advised that mumbai visa office is currently working
towards finalising all on-hand skilled migration applications by 30
June 2003.At this stage we cannot guarantee if any migration places
will be available in Mumbai from July 1,2003.Therefore we encourage
all applicants to submit documents relating to their migration
applications asap to ensure that a decision can be taken on these
applications prior to 30 June 2003"
what does ASSESSMENT OF THESE APPLICATIONS WILL BE COMPLETED BY END OF
FEBRUARY 2003 mean ? will it include issue of visas also or excludes.
Does it mean that AHC is sending medical forms to all pending cases ?
If so many of our friends should have recd them already . But no posts
so far to that effect.
Can i presume that as i have already recd medical forms the other
things are o.k and if medicals are clear without any problems i will
be issued visa?

Assessment means that they will have looked at applications and
decided whether or not they satisfy the basic requirements and points
test. At least in straightforward cases - complex cases may take
longer.
It does not mean visas will have been granted to those who pass the
'assessment'

If you have been asked in writing to do medicals and police checks, it
usually means the 'assessment' has gone ok.
