Default Getting visa in passport from US - how?

Greetings,

My husband and I have just paid our bond and I'm hoping that we'll get our letter soon granting our visa.

We currently reside in the US.

#14 of the application for PR reads "if your application is successful, how would you like to get your visa?" We selected "attend nearest Australian mission", which is Los Angeles.

Question: is this what happens?:
- DIMIA sends letter saying we're successful with date stating by when we need to validate the visas
- we (send passports to, or fly to?) LA and get stickers in our passports
- we fly to australia by the determined date to validate

Thanks for any help you can offer

Evidencing Your Visa In Washington

If you have been granted a visa at another overseas mission but are presently in the United States, our office is able to evidence your visa on behalf of that post. To enable us to assist you, please do the following:

· Advise your processing office that you would like to collect your visa in Washington and ask that they forward appropriate details

· Forward your passport(s) along with a money order for $13US to cover the overnight return post of your travel document(s). If more than 2 passports, the postage fee is $26US. The appropriate mailing address is above.

If you send a prepaid envelope from FedEx, UPS, Airborne, etc., it must have an account number for billing. We will NOT send out return mail where you have simply included your credit card details as our accounts with these companies are usually billed instead.

· Include a covering lettering with your return address and indicate if you have an imminent departure date.

· Please allow up to 2 weeks for the return of your passport

You also may collect your visa in person. Our public hours are from 9 - 11 am , Monday through Friday.

Thank you,

Washington DC

Hi Rajarajaraja,

Did you ever get your passport stamped through Washington and how long did it take for them to get it back to you?

Natalie
