Hi Tracey,
The below is from a FAQ sheet issued by Australia House, London
Who Can Certify Copies of my Documents?
For the UK and the Republic of Ireland your documents can be certified by a notary public, commissioner for oaths, police officer, bank manager or
solicitor.
So yes a Police Officer can sign.

Katie

WE FORGOT TO GET 2 COPIES OF EVERYTHING FOR MAIN APPLICATION, AND HAVE THEM ALL CERTIFIED SO HAD TO GO BACK SO JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL YOUR STUFF TOGETHER TO SAVE YOURSELF ANOTHER TRIP ( UNLIKE US !!)
WE RANG ROUND ALL LOCAL SOLICITORS TO GET THE BEST PRICE, A FEW PEOPLE HAVE SUGGESTED GOING TO A MAGISTRATES COURT, HOWEVER YOU HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT TILL THEY HAVE A SPACE.

I think maybe the best bet is to go for what it says in black and white on the Aus House website and ignore advice on sites like these...

Unfortunately too many outside sites hold the wrong info. For peace of mind always use DIMIA or AHC. All the info is there and is more likely to be correct.

We went to a local solicitor
1st visit - £10 for Skill Assessment documents
2nd visit - (with hubby had to get his birth cert/passport docs certified)
Visa Docs and NurseBoardSA FORM countersigning £20
Thought that was cheap as there was loads of documents included.
