Default General SKilled Migration Questions for July 1st processing, priorities etc

Did anybody noticed it?

Changes to the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program from 1 July 2010 – 11 June 2010

Previously announced changes affecting the GSM program will come into effect on 1 July 2010.
See: Changes to the General Skilled Migration Program (362KB PDF file)
If you are intending to apply online for a GSM visa before 1 July 2010, we recommend that you lodge your online application well before 6 pm AEST (GMT + 10) on Wednesday 30 June 2010 as the implementation of these and other departmental system changes is likely to cause a systems outage.
See: Planned System Maintenance and Technical Issues
Applicants are advised to note planned system maintenance times before commencing an eVisa application, as planned maintenance will prevent a commenced application from being lodged. The department is not able to accept and back-date applications which have been commenced but not finally submitted through eVisa as a result of planned system maintenance or an outage.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Does this means that one can apply for 175/176 visa on 30th June as per old SOL ?

Hi, It looks like DIAC is giving sometime to apply with the old list before new SOL takes effect. but if you try and attempt to lodge an application, the offhosre visa options on the online application are still greyed out. Could someone shed some light on this.

Default Changes to General SKilled Migration Program to become effective 1 July 2010

Hi everyone

DIAC has confirmed that its previously announced changes affecting the GSM program will come into effect on 1 July 2010.

The post on its website reads as follows:

"Previously announced changes affecting the GSM program will come into effect on 1 July 2010.

See: Changes to the General Skilled Migration Program

If you are intending to apply online for a GSM visa before 1 July 2010, we recommend that you lodge your online application well before 6 pm AEST (GMT + 10) on Wednesday 30 June 2010 as the implementation of these and other departmental system changes is likely to cause a systems outage.

"

Best regards
Susan

Wednesday 30th is specifically written. So i think it would be just 1 day oppertunity to apply under old SOL.

"we recommend that you lodge your online application well before 6 pm AEST (GMT + 10) on Wednesday 30 June 2010 " means that we need to complete it before 6 pm on Wednesday - it does not mean that it will start on Wednesday. But is there any start time, when the visa link gets activated..no info mentioned about this

Could the 30th June thing be referring to onshore GSM applicants, those applications have never been suspended.

You have a very valid point Bermudashorts. Again, DIAC has put us in confusion with it's Vague/Incomplete statement.

I don't think DIAC is guilty of putting "vague/incomplete" statement.
Some people just have weak comprehension skills who could not logically tie pieces of information together.

Rather than rating other's comprehension skills, it would be more helpful If you can say something which clarifies the confusion for others (which, of course, you are unable to do so)

nothing in the DIAC statement did it say that the suspension of certain visa applications was lifted. it's very obviously only a system maintenance/technical issue.

Default Re: Changes to General SKilled Migration Program to become effective 1 July 2010

nowhere does it says tht the ban on 175/176 has been lifted.
it could very well suggest tht any other visa category depended on old SOL
and not banned yet can be applied for till 30th june 6 p.m.

so relax..wait till july and then apply when all is clear.

What would be the fate of CSL after 30 June or from 1st July. As there is nothing which I could get about that.

Please Guide.
