Re: Current Processing Times (continued)
You always have a case officer, a visa can't be granted without one.
However, your case officer only contacts you if they need something from you, so if you frontload, and supply everything up front, your case officer doesn't need to get in touch. Hence you won't know who they are, and you won't know when one is allocated. They won't email you just to say Hi, the first you will hear is when your visa is granted.

I have a query. Actually I applied 175 online on 2nd December. I frontloaded my medicals on 14th Feb 2008 so they expire on 14th Feb 2009. Now I have a CO since 23rd September as he asked me for Values Statement. My problem is that I dont have a VISA till now and my meds expire in another 2 months. What if my VISA doesnt get clear before that??
I contacted the DIAC through online enquiry form and they gave me a very generic reply.
1. For applications lodged online – although you may have uploaded or
posted documents, including Health Examinations, these may not be
reflected in the status report when you check your application’s progress
on-line.
For online lodged applications – online checklists do not automatically
update. It will be updated when your application is allocated to, and
assessed by, your case officer. Your case officer will make a request if
additional documents/information is required.
We appreciate your patience in this matter.
2. In regards to the expiry of your health assessment - your case
officer will advise you exactly what to do when they are ready to finalise
your application.
Now what should I do??? Is it advisable now to contact my CO directly. I know communicating again and again will delay my processing of my application.
Thanks

Then stop requesting the email. If you don't want to get frustrated reading it, just don't request the details. Its not as if its something you get whether you ask for it or not!

When the official date in the DIAC email moves past 22/12/2007 then you should have a CO, if not then phone them, you should get through in a few hours. However, this date has only moved forward by 5 weeks in the last 8 months so it could take several months to get to 22nd December
Unfortunately, the length of time you ave to wait is the old 'how long is a piece of string' question, even for a low risk country it could be anywhere from 4 to 15 months with no apparent logical reasoning behind the processing order and the longest waits seem to be steadily increasing.
