Any advice on the following would be great we are planning on settleing in nelson South Island NZ.
When searching for flights I can find some fairly good deals to both Christchurch and Auckland but... to search for Nelson the price goes up by about £700 pound!!! each!! Which seems mad as i can get a flight form either airports to Nelson for under £50.......
Any suggestions or ideas for stop overs etc would be great

I'd have thought you could get a seperate internal flight quite cheaply, or boat & a bus from Wellington!
I don't really know how the travel companies operate, but it always amazes me how the prices vary. I guess it's down to what they're allocated for certain dates, or something, I dunno.

Remember the planes to Nelson are small and very small. As a migrant you may
be better to fly to Christchurch and buy a cheap car to drive to Nelson and
give you wheels when you arrive.

Air NZ internal flights:

Auckland - Nelson 1 way adult smart saver fare = NZ$97 (approx £35)
Christchurch - Nelson 1 way adult smart saver fare = NZ$66 (approx £24)

this includes all NZ govt security/insurance levies, you'll need to book these fares at least a month or so in advance (as there aren't many 'smart saver' seats on each flight, & they go v quickly) Why you are being quoted another £700 is beyond me!!
