Default first time Oz passport application

Has anyone been for their first Oz passport application recently?
I have looked but cant find the info can anyone point me to any posts that could help

few of question re this:

1. why do you have to present app in person?
2. Is there an interview? if so what do they ask?
3. whats the waiting time like in passort office?
4. do you get the passort there and then?

oh! the joy! a trip to London!

Hi

They just check your application to make sure nothing has been missed out and everything's accurate. You can make an appointment at many post offices for a time that suits you. No, the passport is not issued there and then but is sent to you from the passport office - it's pretty quick apprently!

1. For security. First time applicants for an adult Australian passports have had to apply in person for a long time.
2. Yes, but it's generally a short one.
3. http://www.australia.org.uk/lhlh/PptsWhere.html (you have the choice of London or Edinburgh, if you're in Northern Ireland you might want to see if you can lodge in Dublin instead).
4. No
