First entry validation
Hi all,
just joined the gang of those that have been awarded a visa! In my case, subclass 189, in other words, permanent!
My question is about the first entry validation. Can it only be done by actually entreing Australia (as seems most logical)? I've been told it can be done in Britain.

You have to go to Australia. You can turn around and get the next plane out if you wish.

i wonder if entering the Australian High Commission in London, being technically an Australian territory under international convention, can be legally construed as initial entry.

You can then leave again by the next plane if you like

Re: First entry validation
That's a myth.
Embassies have special immunities under international treaties/law but they remain the sovereign territory of the host nation.
In addition, not all Australian sovereign territory is part of the migration zone. For example, Norfolk Island.

Re: First entry validation
Thanks for the confirmation. Sounds logical, except someone I know to me (with full conviction) I could stamp my passport in the UK.
I guess I'll just have to stop faffing around and make the move once and for all.
