Default Fire fighting in Perth

I am trying to cover all my bases. Risk assessing is the word we use in the Fires service. I just have received this e mail from WA fire service. If you are a FF you will know that a lateral transfer to oz requires you to go back to training school. Not anymore!!!! Its good news but I think we decided on moving to Brisbane but this may change things:

Hi John

We are hoping very shortly to have a lateral entry policy up and running, which would allow firefighters with so many years experience to join FESA at a higher level than trainee. This policy has not yet been approved so I don’t yet know the details of exactly how it will work. Although this will enable firefighters from overseas to apply they would still have to have Australian citizenship or residency as we are not able to offer sponsorship. If you wanted to keep an eye on our website Fire & Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia any announcement with regards to the lateral entry policy will go up on there first. Or if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards

Other prospective migrants, please bear in mind that each State Fire Service operates under its own rules. Just because WA enacts a change doesn't mean Qld will do the same.
