A few Citizenship Questions

Hi everyone,

just prepping the docs for filing our application in a few days and had a few questions I was hoping you good folk could help me out on.

1) With the identity docs we'll be using our Vic driving licenses. If the address on the front is correct and up to date do we just scan and send the front? Or do we still scan and send both sides?

2) Birth Certificate. Does anyone know if the birth certificates in the classic red ink that are roughly 15cm by 15cm are acceptable? Or do they need the larger birth certificate that has the parents name on as well? I have one of those but my wife doesn't.

3) We landed on the evening of August 12th 2011. I remember reading another post that you're not supposed to apply till the earliest the first full day that you were in Australia 4 years on, so in that case August 13th 2015. Does that sound right?

Thanks in advance.

Re: A few Citizenship Questions

Hi,

ref 1), we did scan both sides, but only because our correct address was on the sticker on the back. TBH, I would just scan both sides and avoid any hassle

ref 2), I only have the 'classic' birth certificate and submitted that - it was accepted OK. If you have kids, we needed a 'long' birth certificate with parents names for the original visa application and re-used that.

ref 3) Seems reasonable; have you put your dates in the citizenship calculator on the department's website?

If your wife was born in England or Wales then her full birth certificate is easily obtainable from the General Register Office for £9.25 including postage.

I applied for citizenship on the 4th anniversary date of my arrival and it wasn't brought up at the appointment.

Yes we have but I put the intended application date as the day after which is fine. Thanks for coming back on my questions.
