Family Sponsorship for Subclass 176

I would like to know what evidence is sought by the immigration to confirm if a family sponsor is CAPABLE (to financially sponsor/to provide accomodation) for the applicant for 176 subclass.

For instance, if the sponsor has two houses (on mortgage), with a working spouse and has been employed for the past 2 years but recently made redundant, would he still be seen as a capable sponsor for 176. My sibling is perfectly capable of sponsoring me in my understanding and I have evidence of significant funds of upto 30K AUD which I would bring should I be granted migration.

Essentially, how do they confirm the eligibility of the sponsor from the financial viewpoint. The form the sponsor fills only asks some basic questions and proof of identity. Does DIAC require work references from the sponsor as well while loding the 176 application for the applicant?

Thanks for any piece of advice or information on this in advance.

Thanks a lot for the information. I called Immigration Australia, and the rep I spoke with had NO IDEA about all this and what exactly is the criteria.

If you mean you called the DIAC helpline, they rarely know the ins and outs of individual visas. you would be better off calling a registered migration agent.

Absolutely correct. Even some registered agents are the same. They only know some basic things. If anyone knows a very good agent to ask questions rather than overview a whole application, please recommend to me.

There are several threads on here recommending agents if you scroll back through the forum; personally I've used George Lombard in the past and have a lot of respect for him, others include Alan Collet, and Stephen Dickson - do a search on the names and you'll find some of the recommendation threads :)
