Unhappy Extending PR visa

Hi

Wondered if anyone would be able to offer any advice on this...we were granted our PR visa for Oz nearly five years ago and it is due to expire on 21 Aug. We have been living in Singapore for the last two years (so we are slowly making our way there!) however I am now pregnant and am due in September. My question is whether anyone knows if you can extend your PR visa if you have not moved there yet? Is it simply a case of if we do not move there by 21 Aug we will loose our visas?

As far as I know, its a use it or lose it deal, unless you have massive mitigating circumstances. In your case, you've had five years to use it so I don't really see them extending it.

I may be wrong as I am only new to all of this, but if I am someone will be along to point you in the right direction.

Had you lived here and had a home, job, bank accounts etc then you could possibly have got an RRV. However as you haven't then no, you can't extend it. You've had five years to move which DIAC and many others consider quite long enough for someone to sort their affairs out and move over.

Plenty of time to move before August. If you want to be sure of keeping the visa then you need to make the move, five years should be long enough.
