Hi All

Does anyone know if IELTS tests are required for CPV applicants who do not speak English as a first language? I cannot find any reference to IELTS testing other than for Skilled Migrants, leading me to think that it may not be a requirement.

I've not come across any reference to IELTS in regard to CPVs. Generally I think we're considered to be not economically active (unemployable, retired, above it all or simply past it) so we're not being tested for employability. Hence the long term bond and all the money that flows to the Oz govt before we get a visa.

theres a question on the application form asking about the level of English language ability but it doesn't seem to be tested.

Maybe another silly question but are any of the high costs of obtaining a CPV refunded?

Regards

John

Well, we get the bond back, one day, if the assurer gives it to us. But otherwise, what eventuality would trigger a refund situation I wonder? Failure to validate visa (expiry); no. Don't like living there: no. Can anyone think of any other situations? I think once the visa is in your passport, that's it.

You only get the unused portion of the bond money back after 10 years, that's it.

Hi

We received confirmation that the AOS has been lodged and approved this morning.

We have also been asked to make the final VAC!

Only just come back down to earth.

Never doubted it for a moment. So all that careful planning paid off, Charlie, and you'll soon be on your way. Very pleased for you!

Cheers

Brilliant news! We are taking our time a little since we are a couple of K short of the final payment but should be okay by May. Assurance of support interview is arranged for 6th April and we have our medicals at the end of April so that spins it out sufficiently I hope. It's all rather nail biting now isn't it. Just hoping that some miracle happens and our house sells quickly when the time comes. I can't bring myself to jump the gun and put it on the market until everything else is in place.

Being back in the UK a couple of weeks after an all too brief holiday in Perth has just confirmed that we are doing the right thing. Just wish it didn't cost an arm and a leg!
