ETA 600 12 month stay

Has anyone applied for this for family? My mother in law is retired and would like to stay longer than the 3 months on the free tourist visa. She wishes to come and spend more time with us and her grandchild. I presume it asks you somewhere in the application how long you’d like to stay?
Also she is 70 in January, will she need medicals?

Thanks, maybe it’s me but the immi webpage is very vague on the details for this visa.

Re: ETA 600 12 month stay

Unless your mother-in-law is a New Zealand passport holder she will require a subclass 600 visitor visa to stay more than three months as a visitor. This will need to be paid for and will be subject to far more scrutiny than a standard eVisitor/ETA application. Whether a health assessment is required will depend on passport held, country of residence, length of stay, existing health problems, etc..

Visitor visa (subclass 600)
