Re: ENS Visa (121/856) Current Timescales (Part 2.....)
My case officer requested the doc as
"
2. Evidence of Functional English language ability for spouse, xyz
All applicants aged 18 years and over must provide prescribed evidence
of at least functional English language proficiency.
There are a number of circumstances that may demonstrate a level of at
least functional English ability; including a current IELTS (General)
test score with average band score of 4.5 or above. Please refer to the
attached information ‘Prescribed Evidence of Functional English. ;
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/966i.pdf.
(See attached file: English Functional - Prescibed- info.doc)
Any family members aged 18 years and over who do not have functional
English will also be liable for the 2nd instalment of the visa
application charge (VAC). This charge currently stands at $3,510 for
secondary applicants aged 18 years and over. The payment will be
requested immediately prior to visa grant if all other requirements for
the grant of the visa have been met.
Please do not arrange for payment of the 2nd instalment of visa
application charge, unless I ask you to do so."

Thanks for your advise. Do you know if this will be refunded by department and the reason why the are charging this VAC.

In order to complete the AMEP tuition he/she must register for courses within 3 months of visa grant. If he/she does not register within this time, his/her entitlement may cease. Please note it is not mandatory to register or attend this tuition.

Well, it will not be refunded. This fee will be his/her entitlement to the Adult Migrant English Program(AMEP). This is an entitlement to English Language tution up to a maximum of 510 hours or the number of hours it takes to reach functional English level, whichever comes first.

How exciting for you...you are soo close. hope you get news today!!!
My MA has been in touch with a manager at diac to find out what's going on. our situ is this...nomination submitted 9th feb and visa app submitted 23rd may. we were initially told by several people at diac that the 5-7 months is from nomination submission date. BUT a manager at diac has confirmed the 5-7 months is from application submission date. so, we have added another few months onto our wait. we are now looking at 23rd oct (if we are lucky). The manager at diac did confirm that they are sticking to the client charter timeframes and are now processing apps submitted on 11th march.

I asked my CO directly , and he said he still waiting on an external agency to complete certain checks. Also he cannot predict when it will come thru.
Previously, he suggested me October now he is saying it was an estimate only.
I hope those external checks come thru soon.

Re: ENS Visa (121/856) Current Timescales (Part 2.....)
I made an offshore application, however I'm currently in Australia. In order for the visa grant to be made I need to be outside of the country.
The pre grant letter effectively says that the application is near finalisation and that I now need to make arrangements to leave the country for the decision to be made. It also says that I need to obtain evidence of the visa grant once it is issued and gives me a date by which I have to re enter Australia after the grant.
