Hi.

My wife and I are both planning on immigrating to Australia.

I just need some answers as theres so much on the internet regarding my question and theres loads of sites saying different things.

My wife, who was hoping for 20 points in for her english test, unfortunately scored 10 points. I took the Ielts test last year as I was to be the main applicant, although now our circumstances have changed, unfortunately on my reading I got a 6.0, the rest I got 7.5 and over. My wife thinks we can now apply as she thinks I get 5 points for english as she is the main applicant now so therefore she thinks I get 5 on the partner visa.

So can anyone clarify if a 6.0 minimum can get 5 points? If so we can start the process....

Your IELTS score shows ‘competent’ English, so you would get the 5 partner points

Hi Paul and thanks for the reply.

We called a few visa agents yesterday and they all confirmed that but I really appreciate you taking time to answer. Every agent, tightly so, wouldnt give too much info as they all wanted money but we feel we can do it on our own without any agencies etc.

The wife is currently working on her EOI as we speak. Exciting times ahead!!
