Default Emigrate exhibition - anyone going?

Anyone planning to go to the migration exhibition in Sandown this weekend? Might be a
good chance to meet up. Also, has anyone been there last year that can give us some
idea of what might be gained by going along?

Cheers

Michael

We're going on Friday and Saturday. We also went last year, it was very good. I (along with some others) posted some tips on another thread started by a chap called Neil, if you want to check it out here is the link http://britishexpats.com/forums/show...ate+exhibition
Otherwise if that doesn't work, do a search using "migrate exhibition" as your keywords.

We would really like to go but we can't find a babysitter and we think our children will be too little ( 3 & 20 months) to take.

Look forward to hearing all about it though!

We are making a day of it on Friday- Not sure what to expect, but hope that there will be loads of helpful information.

Good excuse to spend the day together without the children for a change.

Are there likely to be crowds of us ?

According to the website, 16000 people went last year, and many more are expected
this year. I suppose they would say that, but the attendance trends since launch seem
to support this. I was going to take the kids, but they charge for them as well, like
they are really going to have a ball at this sort of thing. My wife wants to stay at
home with the kids so I have to go on my own. Not keen about that, 'cos I know when I
get back, my wife will ask me all the questions I should have asked but didn't.
Anyway, I think I'll go down on Sunday, mind you, that's St. Patricks day, so I
expect to be home early! Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Have Fun

Anyone going on Sunday? It's Paddy's Day, I'll stand a round of Guiness if they have
a decent bar there.

We'll be there Friday and Saturday. There's a cafe just inside the main entrance, they will let you in for a coffee before the doors of the exhibition open - better than queuing outside in the rain! There's also a restaurant inside, mainly fast food if I remember right, I think it was near the pen pals notice board/international job centre.

Like Michael, I will be going by myself on Sunday - cannot get any babysitters.

If anyone would like to meet up, please email me on
[email protected]

I'll be travelling from Bath if anyone would like to share a lift.

See you there.

We won't be going, although we went last year, and found it very helpful to speak to
DIMIA staff direct. I bet they will be inundated this year! We would be most grateful
to hear anyone's feedback, especially on the average processing times, from questions
they have asked DIMIA staff direct. Thanks Caryn & Tony

Beware the food at the show is VERY expensive and limited if your taking children. Take a packed lunch. Although you'll have to lug it round you'll save loads of cash (all the more for Oz).
We went last year and found the forums good and to be with like minded people was a very good feeling.

Went on friday in my opinion it was a waste of time, drove 200 miles as well. Could of found most of the info out on the internet or by picking the phone up.
Save your time & money stay at home!
