Default e457 and health insurance visa requirement

I have a question which is probably stupid, but here we go.

Health insurance is part of my temporary visa requirement. Could the custom officer refuse me the entry in Australia if i havent register with an health insurance company before leaving the UK?

Thank you for your help

We arrived in July 2003 on a 457 temp visa and we did not arrange any health insurance until we had arrived. You get basic Medicare but you have to register for that as soon as you can . Health cover is not cheap for temp visa holders though. Shop around!!!
Good luck

Medicare cover under reciprocal health schemes depends on nationality and/or residence : this is not clear in the original post.
