DUI Character Test

Greetings,
This looks like the place to post this question. My family and I are
applying for a temporary visa to come to Australia. I have read and
re-read the information about the character test. "People who want to
either migrate to Australia or stay temporarily on working and tourist
visas, must be of good character...." I just want to get some of your
opinions.
In 1987 (when I was a teenager...I was 18 years old) I was arrested
twice -- once for Public Intoxication and once for Driving Under the
Influence. My punishments were as follows: I paid a fine for the
public intoxication and received six months probation for the DUI
charge. That's it. Since then, I have grown up...have wife and
kids...no trouble since. In fact, these offenses are not part of my
permanent record (here in the States) because they were so long ago.
Obviously, I will disclose them on my application because it is
required to do so.
The question is -- will the offenses named above prohibit a temporary
visa (staying a couple of years) for me and my family?
BTW -- I have been to Australia before on an electronic visa. Also --
I am being sponsored by a business to come over.
Thanks for your help -- J. S.
