Default Does my husbands occupation count?

My husband and I are hoping to make a move to Australia with his company. It is very early days and details from them are vague at present so we have been doing some research into visas ourselves.

I have been looking at the full ASCO listing for his job title. He is a Dispensing Optician. His actual job title is not on the list, however, under the listing for Optical Mechanic his job role (Optical Dispenser) is listed as a specialisation. On looking at the various optical licensing board websites we can see that his UK qualification (FBDO) is recognised.

Does anyone know whether his "specialisation" (i.e. as an Optical Dispenser rather than an Optical Mechanic) will count?

Hi LittleKitty

Just wondered if you found out any info regarding your husbands job? I'm in exactly the same boat. I'm a fully qualified DO but I do have extensive experience (9 years+) of glazing and working in a lab which is an optical mechanic. But I guess the experience without qualification wont be enough but is being a specialisation?. I just wondered how you got on.

Any help would be gratefully received

Danny
