Default Do we send passports with application?

We are hoping to send our Special Migration - 47SV application off this week. The application forms and Booklet 8 (Special Migration) makes no mention of sending passports at the same time as the application but the DIMIA website says that we need to "include a self addressed pre-paid envelope for the secure return of your passports", just below the address for sending the application to (Canberra).

So....do we send our passports or is this just a red herring?

help......!

Thanks
Kirsten

Where on the DIMIA website does it say this?

That's not the normal practise for offshore migration, even if it's handled by an office onshore.

You send the DIMIA people a certified copy of the id page of your passport, and if your application is successful you can get your visas stamped at the nearest DIMIA office offshore (ie London).

Are you applying for Former Resident?

Hi Jeremy, thanks for reply. Yes we are applying for Former Resident. I found the information here http://www.immi.gov.au/faq/migrate/m.../special03.htm
under the 'Migrating as Former Resident - Frequently Asked Questions'. (near the bottom of page)
So do you think it is a red herring then?

thanks
Kirsten

I think it's a red herring.
George Lombard may have a view on this too.
