Do I need to resit IELTS? before 175 applicaiton..
Hi freinds....
I am currently planning to apply for skilled independent visa 175...I am a doctor by profession and working in Australia since Dec 2006.My timelines about IELTS...
September 2005: I gave my IELTS Academic Module and got a good band score of overall 8 ( More than 7 in all 4 categories) as it was a basic necisity to give my exams further....
November 2006 : I applied to the medical board ( my skilled assesing authority) and till that time my IELTS was valid...
Now my IELTS has expired last week....but for giving me a full registration ( a full positive skill assesment) the medical board ( my skill assesing body) does not want IELTS anymore as they say that when I got registered for the first time last year November...my IELTS was valid and they have categorically told me that they dont need it any more.....So no problems from their side...
I have been working in Australia since December 2006 and as I am a doctor I am involved in a lot of public dealing....
With all this background....my main question is if my skill assesing body has no problem, do I still need to sit the IELTS exam...for immigration people....
I know that I just need to clear General module with a band score of 6 in each according to the new rules....but why to undergo that hassle....
I would appreciate if somebody could pen down their experience on that...
Cheers

You you do. Your skills assessing body is different from DIAC and according to the 175 application you have to include a recent IELTS result unless you hold a passport from either UK, Canada, US, Ireland or New Zealand.

If you do have to sit the IELTS you only need to sit the General test which is much easier.
